Targeting Local Government officials (councillors) can be a useful way to get action on local issues. We provide the boundary data that address lookups are based on so that your supporters can enter an address and be directed to a local government contact. However, the bigger data challenge is to collate the actual councillor data (names, email addresses etc) which is not centralised, but can be found on the web (in more than 500 different web sites across the country (!).

The data changes regularly as council elections are held at different times so be sure to collate close to your campaign action date. The data needs to be in the following format:

Electorate = LGA name
Chamber should be left as Lower for all councillors

Party Name is optional BUT make sure the CSV still has the column empty (so when comma delimited you will see ,, (two commas).

Photo is also optional but helps to make the action compelling

Once you have your data ready, you can upload a spreadsheet of the LGA/s you wish to target and respond to address lookups with that data.

It's easy as:

1. Create a campaign for emailing politicians

2. Select the following options.

3. Upload your CSV and finish filling out your campaign as normal.
